Life is chaos! I can't believe how things have been turned upside down and inside out lately. It's been good, but it's been crazy!
On May 5th Brian took me to breakfast, gave me a beautiful Willow Tree figurine (for our 6th anniversary) and headed off to the West coast. He made it to Cali safely and finished out his finals. He's now an official Master's degree holder and finally done with school! YAY!! Now it's my turn. :)
The two weeks following his leaving and my joining him was long and hard. I hated every minute I had to spend away from him, but we got the house cleaned up and ready to go. The movers came and packed everything up, packers loaded it onto the truck (an extremely long day), and closed on the house. Everything went well and with the help of an absolutely amazing ward I felt the support and love I needed. I was super sad to leave those wonderful ladies but hope to stay in touch with them. They truly were my life line for one of the craziest weeks of my life.
Ian's preschool graduation brought on more tears (I was amazed I had any left after all the crying I had done that week) but he was adorable and has been so excited by the idea of going to kindergarten.
My wonderful sister Elena (they are all wonderful by the way) came to help me drive out to Las Vegas where she would meet her hubby to head back to Utah and I'd head down to SoCal (apparently that's the correct terminology for out area, I've been told I'm not suppose to call it Cali anymore).
We've now been in the hotel a week and it's bee crazy, good, tiring, and rough at times. The kids are finding it hard to be trapped in the small space, frankly so am I. We try to get out and go swimming in the pool here at the hotel at least once a day and sometimes end up in it twice. The kids love it! The parks are fun and the weather is nice for the most part. It's been cold a couple of days (surprise to me) and today is BEAUTIFUL!
Brian took Ian on a Father and son's camp out this last weekend and Ian had a blast. Although apparently we should have brought our winter gear because the morning air was F.R.I.G.I.D. Brian said that Ian was so cold at breakfast that he shoveled his food into his mouth and kept saying "I wanna go home."
Ian's been a little bit frustrating lately. He gets in this mode where he thinks he's in a hurry and stuffs all his food in his mouth and then ends up throwing it up. It's driving me nuts! Do all boys do this or is my boy the only one? It's not enjoyable. :(
We've been searching for a good house to buy here in Lancaster and we thought we found one we could enjoy. We did the inspection and things look like they need a little work but it would be fine. It wasn't my first pick of a home, but the market out here is limited. Our agent said that there is only like 800 houses on the market and about 85% of them are short sales. Not the best lot to pick from. Any house that is a regular sale is either much more expensive or you put an offer in slightly too late. Kinda a pain. But we went to church today (a wonderful ward by the way) and there is house next to one of the families in the ward that we looked at that I actually wanted to persue, and now I really, REALLY want to persue it. The family called that cul-de-sac 'mormon row' and told us of all the families that live on that street in the ward. Lots of kids our kids age and good babysitters too. So now we are going to try and persue that house. It needs new carpets and paint and maybe a few other things, but I actually liked that house better. I really hope it works out for us. I would love to live close to good friends in the ward. :)
Anywayz, that's mostly what we've been up too. It's been way super nice to have Brian home and not studying all the time. We've had a lot of fun with him already. Of course, I'm hoping to start my degree soon (this fall if possible) and I'll be the one whose busy. Life is good though and this valley here in the middle of nowhere is kinda pretty in it's own way. :)
Gotta say, we are truly a blessed family!
