Furious Flooding

For all of you that might have gotten on the news that Atlanta and it's surrounding areas are under water, well it's a yes and a no.  There are some places in Atlanta and close to use that were submerged, bridges that were out, roads that were closed and buildings covered, but we are just fine where we are at.  In fact, I was unaware of the flooding till Brian called me from work and told me to look on the CNN website.  Wow!!  But we've had three very beautiful and dry days, and for the most part Atlanta is recovering.

So yes, it has been a mess here, but no, we (the Caldwell family) are just fine.

Lovin' Consignment Sales

I've been a real big fan of consignment sales since I moved here and found out about them, but yesterday I hit the JACKPOT!!  I seriously made out like a bandit and loved it!!  I came home with 10 whole new outfits for Kenya (well, most of them were gently used, some new though), 8 pairs of pants for Ian, several Christmas gifts for Ian, Kenya's birthday gift (Brand new!), a few odds and ends for me, and few other things.  WOW!!!  I couldn't believe how well I did!  I spent so little in comparison to what you would spend buying brand new at Wal-Mart or Target. I was totally happy!!  I especially like the fact that I won't have to do much more shopping to be done with fall/winter cloths for the kids!  What a steal!  

Too My Utter Surprise

Okay, I know for sure that I have a wonderful hubby and that he is absolutely fabulous! I love him tons and tons, more than can say, but today he shocked and surprised me in a totally awesome way!

When he got home, I wasn't feeling all that great, so he told me to go up to bed and take a nap. After trying to struggle for a couple of minutes to stay downstairs and coherent, I gave up and went up to bed. At 5 pm I woke up after about an hour or so of napping, and the first thought that crossed my mind was that I need to get dinner going. I already had planned out what I was going to make, but I knew that I was behind and wouldn't have it done by 5:30. When I came downstairs I was thoroughly amazed!!

Now, Brian is very good at making sure that if I'm unable to make dinner for some reason that the kids still get fed, but it's usually Mac-n-Cheese. He loves that stuff and really it's all he claims to know how to make. Well, he can't claim that anymore. I came downstairs and wandered into the kitchen half asleep and was shocked awake by the fact that there were break-sticks rising on the counter ready to be put in the oven for dinner. WHAT!!! Yeah, you heard me, Brian made the dough and bread-sticks from scratch! It was AWESOME!! I will never let him tell me that he can't make anything again, cause I now know that he can totally make anything with a recipe! They were really good bread-sticks too!

You see, I always had a really hard time betting bread items, ones with yeast, to turn out right, but he got it done right the very first time he tried!! He totally can make anything now. :) That's my amazing hubby for ya! What a catch!!!

Labor Day Activities

We spent Labor Day as a family, just relaxing. Spent some time at the park letting the kids play, and it was a gorgeous day!

While we were at the park, a lady noticed that we were wearing University T-shirts. I was wearing a BYU shirt and Brian was wearing Caldwell University. She asked us if we were headed over to Chick-Fil-A to get free sandwiches. Apparently, Chick-Fil-A was having a Labor Day give away and anyone wearing their favorite teams logo t-shirt got a free chicken sandwich. So we headed on over for lunch. Brian made sure to run home and get Ian's shirt as well, so we got 3 free sandwiches. For dinner, we picked up a friend of ours, gave him a BYU shirt to wear, and we all went and got more free sandwiches. What a crazy day!! Great chicken sandwiches though!

Hike Up Kennesaw Mountain

Brian, the kids and I finally made our way up to the top of Kennesaw mountain. It was such a gorgeous day that we just couldn't pass up the opportunity.

After about 10 minutes of walking Ian decided that he just couldn't go any farther, so Brian put him on his shoulders and off we went. It got our hearts pumping and our bodies sweating (mostly cause of the kids we were carrying), but we surely enjoyed ourselves.

Can you say... GORGEOUS!

I really, REALLY love the spring and fall seasons! They are just the best time of the year.

Reasons:

Perfect temperatures - not too hot, not too cold
Wonderful smells - for some reason the spring and fall bring in the most wonderful scents and smells. I love the wind blowing through my home and making everything smell so beautifully natural and simple.
Windows can be open - I don't have to constantly have the AC cranked up or make sure the doors and windows stay closed, in fact, I opened my windows today due to a delightful breeze that went through my home.

It's been a fabulous day. I spent some of the morning on the porch with the kids while they played and goofed off. We all laughed and smiled and I just couldn't help noticing how beautiful it is out there. What a wonderful morning!

Always Pressing Forward

So, Last night I ran with a few friends and I was pleasantly surprised to find that I could not only keep up with them, but that I was able to run about 4 miles or so before I had to slow down and take a breather. All in all, I thought that was pretty good for me. In all, walking-running-cool down, I probably did a total of a little over 5 miles!! Wahoo!! I'm getting there!

Marcy, my friend, wanted to see if we wanted to run a half marathon with her on October 31st. I'm not sure I'm ready for that now, but maybe if I train with them I could try and do it. Who knows.
