Christmas Nerf Fight

So on Christmas Eve, Elena talked us into all opening one gift. She chose the gifts that the three boys, Wes, Victor, & Brian should open. They were all exactly the same, and of course my parents would be the ones to promote this in our men. :) The boys all got Nerf Guns, and they were pretty nice ones too.



As soon as they were out of the packaging a Nerf war broke out amongst them, & Elena and I were caught in the cross fire. Luckily for us, it didn't hurt to get shot. The boys ended up resorting to throwing the balls at each other when getting them in the gun wasn't fast enough. We all laughed at how quickly the boys became uncivilized and broke out in all out war, but it was definitely hilarious and fun.

Our Christmas Run

On Christmas Eve, as we were playing games with my sister - Elena, brother - Wes, and Elena's fiance - Victor, it started to pour outside. I guess it's the closest we Georgian's can expect to get to a White Christmas, tons of rain! So I suggested to the crew that they run through the rain. I didn't actually expect them to do it, but it didn't take much persuading. So Elena, Wes, Victor, and Brian took off into the sopping rain for a fun jog.

Out in front of our apartment is a large grass area and when it rains it always fills up with water like a muddy pool. Brian just happened to know this and decided to start a mud war in the water. Victor and Brian were rolling around in the water getting absolutely drenched in mud, grass, and water, but apparently loving every minute of it. I happened to get it on video with Victor's camera and it was just to funny to watch. I had the task of holding Kenya, so unfortunately (only to them, not to me) I didn't have the liberty of running through the rain, but maybe next time.

Grandpa & Grandma King's visit

Our little family had the pleasure of having Mekayla's parents in Georgia with us for the Thanksgiving Holiday. The kids absolutely loved seeing their grandparents, and I was thrilled they were here too. They were able to stay for about 10 days and help Kenya and I recover from birth. We had a blast watching movies, talking, and hanging out. It had seemed like forever since we saw them last. Ian loved being able to have so much attention and play around with his grandpa and grandma, and now I think he misses that attention.

Our newest eddition has arrived!

On Sunday, November 9th, 2008 at 10:09 pm, Kenya Mae Caldwell joined us in this world. She was born at Cobb Hospital in Austell, Georgia. Kenya weighed in at 7 pounds 15 ounces and was 19 inches long.

Kenya was born by Emergency Cesarean Section due to complications with her umbilical cord. They called it a prolapsed cord, which in non-medical terms means that the cord came through the birth canal first, therefore causing problems with delivery. If I had a contraction while the umbilical cord was through the birth canal, it would have cut of Kenya's air supply and killed her. So we were rushed to the Operating room and within 10 minutes of them finding the problem, she was brought into this world. Quite a miracle if you ask me.

I remember thinking afterwards, that back years ago, when they didn't have the technology of today, it would have very well been possible that Kenya wouldn't have made it and I may not have made it either. But because of today's advancements, and the blessings of the Lord, we were both well taken care of and everything turned out just fine. What a blessing and a miracle. We are excited to have her in our family and do think that she is the most precious, beautiful girl there is, (but of course, we are biased a little).
