It amazes me, this life we have. Daily we go along, running through our basic routines without a thought to how truly amazing it is to be here, for this day.
We often think of our past, how maybe we wish we could change a few things here and there.
How much fun we used to have during those late nights and crazy teenage years. How dreadful some of those years felt. How we would never want to have to repeat certain events in our lives. We also think about our future. What will happen over the next 6 months, 5 years, in our marriage, in our lives. We think about what life will be like when things are said and done. What our kids will grow up to be. What will happen to our parents and siblings down the road. We think about one day, being free from worldly debt. Free from that boss that you can't stand. Free from the chaos of tiny children or hormonal teenagers.
But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it's just I who thinks this way. Maybe "we" don't think this way at all. All I know, is that today I realized something that I've been missing out on. Today. Today Kenya smiled at me, making me feel warm and cozy inside. Today, Ian laughed so joyfully that it could have killed all hate in the world. Today, Brian kissed me tenderly showing me just how much he loves me and will always love me. Today my little children grew up another day, passed another test of time, grew a little more. Today, could have been the day I focused all my energies on the present and not the future or the past, things we have very little to really affect. Today, my children could have known more than they did. Today, my husband could have been given more from me than he did. Today could have been more than it was.
It's time for me to start focusing on today. It's time to realized that the past is in the past, nothing can be changed about it and it will either help me learn and grow or hinder me if I let it. Time to let the future come as it will, being prepared as I focus on today. Time to remember that today is all we have, so we must make the best of it. Seize the Day, make it all it can be, never look back and always look forward.
God has blessed me with more than I could have ever dreamed or imagined for myself. The best way to repay him is to focus all my efforts on today, loving, teaching, learning, growing, being the very best every single day.
But why is it so terribly hard. I get caught up in a world full of entertainment and emotion. Full of unimportant jargen that muddles the very fabric of a perfect exsistance. Is it too hard for me to forget all that doesn't belong and focus on what's most important? Is it too hard to reach forward with my full heart, giving 110% to my Heavenly Father, to my children, husband and all those around me? I hope, I pray that it isn't too hard. That I can make myself reach for the best there can be.
Carpe Diem - Seize the Day
