... And not succeeding very well.
So it's been a while since I've posted and things have been crazy. I'll give you as much of any update as I can without driving you all nuts. :)
In June, while we were still in the hotel, Trey got sick with Hand, Foot & Mouth. It's a viral infection and it was horrid. The poor kid ended up with blister like sores all over his hands, feet and some around his mouth. He wouldn't eat, wouldn't walk, and was very unhappy for almost 3 weeks.
The picture is of Trey's feet when he first started getting the blisters. They got much worse as time went on and it was sad.
Because Trey had Hand, Foot & Mouth, we had to seclude ourselves in the room so the we didn't spread the infection to every kid in the hotel. It was a long three weeks and though the kids handled it well they were ready to mutiny the ship by the end of it.
The weekend before the 4th of July we moved out of the hotel and into Elena and Victor's house. They were generous enough to let us use their house as our own while we were homeless. We spent a lot of the week of the 4th with family and for Independence Day we had a blast. Elena and Victor invited us to join them at a Real Salt Lake Soccer game and watch the fireworks afterwards. Brian and I both love soccer so it was super enjoyable and they company was fabulous! The game ended in a tie, which left us kinda disappointed, but the fireworks were probably one of the best shows I've ever seen. It was awesome!
Brian headed back to California and work on the 8th, leaving us in Utah. We were very blessed to find some amazing people in the ward that allowed Brian to stay in their spare room. I was sad to be separated from him again, but we hoped it wouldn't be long.
Before we left the hotel we did find a house, put in an offer and got the process going, but it's been a difficult ride. The house is a flipped property and so the lender has to take extra precautions. It's been a long and frustrating road, but we should be getting the keys to our house this Friday (August 3rd).
While in Utah the kids and I traveled back and forth from Elena's house in West Valley City (Salt Lake City area) to my parents house in Utah Valley. The kids and I had Trey's 1st birthday party at Grandma and Grandpa King's house and though it wasn't as great as I'd have like it, my family made it fun. Trey though wasn't really interested in the cake so I don't have any wonderful pictures of his face covered in cake. :(

Towards the end of July my parents moved out of their house and the kids and I were able to be there to help and say goodbye. It was kinda an emotional move for them and us. It was nice to be around to see them through all of it.
About a week ago the kids and I made our way down to Las Vegas. In California you sign papers for your house, give them the money, and then 5 days later you get the keys. Because of this I needed to be able to get to Cali for signing. Las Vegas is only 4 hours away and we were suppose to sign on July 27th, but it got pushed back, so Brian came to Las Vegas to pick us up and bring us back to Cali. On July 30th we finally signed papers for our house. As of now we should be getting keys in 2 days. YAY!!! I'm so ready to be back in a home of our own.
Ian's off to Kindergarten this year and I'm nervous. I think I'm only really nervous about it because we aren't settled yet and I don't even have him registered. School starts on the 9th of August (next Thursday) and I should be able to get him registered by Friday. I hope that he'll move smoothly into school but I worry that because things have been so crazy with us lately that he'll have a hard time with another change. Hopefully all will work smoothly.
Well, that's been our crazy life lately. Hope you enjoyed the read. :)
