In the Water

We went to Tybee Island Beach to spend the afternoon. Brian paid for 4 hours of parking, but low and behold, we only got to use an hour of that time. Ian was absolutely terrified of the water. We finally got both kids sitting happily on our laps and then a wave came up on us and got their little bums wet. That was the end of our Beach experience. Ian started screaming and ran back to the stroller, grabbed his shoes, and started yelling "GO! GO!" He wasn't happy.


So we headed back to the hotel. Once we got back, we thought we'd try swimming in the pool. This actually worked out better, considering Ian didn't have to get in the water. Kenya was content in the pool with Brian and I and Ian would wander around the outside throwing balls into the pool for Brian to fetch. We had a great couple of hours by the pool side.

Canning Jam

The other day I had the opportunity to go with some of the women and children from the ward to pick strawberries on a farm. Ian had fun for about 15 minutes and then got board, but we did get a large bag of strawberries and some raspberries. I was able to have Marcy over to help me/teach me how to make jam out of my strawberries. It was really fun actually, but hot.

Here's the finished product, 15 jars of strawberry jam & 3 jars of Strawberry/Raspberry jam. Yummy!!!

New Hiding Place

This is our hall closet. It doesn't have a door and so it has quickly become Ian's favorite place to just hang out. He crawls up into the shelf and will sit there for minutes on end just reading or curled up under blankets. Sometimes, he even asks daddy to climb up there with him. My little monkey.

Memorial Day Fun

Our wonderful Memorial Day started with some sand volleyball. The kids went crazy in the sand, and well, we did too. It was quite the enjoyable morning. We played several co-ed games, and a girls game and boys game. We had a blast!

In the afternoon we headed to the Partridges for time by the pool and a BBQ. It was a great way to spend the day: friends and family!

Ode to Teething

Oh dear teeth, how we loathe thee,
your painful cutting ways.

Alright, forget the poem, but she's got one! A tooth is coming in on Kenya's lower gums! YEAH!! No wonder she's been so grumpy lately, but I guess that could also be contributed to the fact that she's a girl. Who knows. But it's sharp and definitely coming through the gums.

Hello Beautiful

How many times do you have someone stop you and tell you how beautiful your children are, or flat out just comment on your cute family? I don't know about you, but my little ones get told that fairly often. But at the same time, when was the last time that someone told you that you are beautiful or commented on your looks? Well, to my utter surprise, today while I was shopping at Wal-Mart, standing in line, a guy started walking by me saying "Smile". He said it like three times, and I finally turned and looked at him cause I was confused. Was he talking to me? Apparently he was cause he then said, "Yes I'm talking to you. Smile, someone that beautiful should have a smile on your face." Smiles all around I tell ya. I couldn't help it! What a sweet guy! Totally made my day!

So the next time you see a pretty face with out a smile on it, tell them. "Such a beautiful face should have a smile on it." :) :)

Race For the CURE!

My friend Marcy asked me to sign up with her for the Susan G. Komen Atlanta Race for the Cure with the rest of our Smokin' Hot Mommas group. I was wary of it because it was a 5 K race (3.2 miles) and I haven't run in ages. We tried running together to prepare, but the weather got in our way and so I wasn't able to get some running in before hand. So today, at 7 am, we all assembled to head to the race. I was really nervous that I would be left alone and end up at the very back. There were approxamately 15,000 plus people there to race and it was crowded! It was a blast though. I started out good with Marcy at my side and then somewhere in the middle Marcy and I got separated and I finished out the whole race in 32 minutes and 30 seconds. I ran the entire thing!! I was so stunned that I had been able to do it and not stop to walk! It was an awesome experience and now Brian and I are thinking of training for another race, a 4 mile one, that is coming up June 20th. It's quite the experience!

Our shirts were awesome too. Kandis, a gal from my ward, designed them and then Karen, another gal from my ward, coined the slogan on the back and it said "See Momma run. See momma run a lot. See momma get SMOKIN' HOT!" It was way cute!

Anniversary

Yesterday was our 3rd year anniversary and so far the best we've had! We had a lot of fun. Brian had planned to take me up north a little ways to the Callaway Gardens to hike around and see the beauty there, but the weather wasn't cooperating. The forecast said there would be scattered showers all day, but in actuality, it was a pretty nice day. So instead of going up north, we decided that we would buy and make some of our favorite treats, and watch movies that we hadn't seen yet.

It was a good thought, but it ended up being so nice at lunchtime that we went to one of the Civil War Parks around here and had a picknic lunch with the kids and walked around some of the trails there! It was beautiful! You'd be not 100 yards from the road, but wouldn't even know it's there cause there was so much beauty between you, so many trees. It was a fun adventure.

Right as we got back to the car, about 20 feet away from the van actually, we could here the rain starting to pour through the trees. We took off running for the van in hopes to get the kids in before they got soaked. We barley made it in when it started to down pour. Talk about perfect timing, or just blessing from God. He was just holding that rain back for us so we could make it back to the van. :)

After that, we came home through the storm and watched a movie and ate junk (Not one of our better ideas). Both Brian an I felt sick after just a little bit. So we decided to walk to the library and burn some of the junk off. It was nice enough outside again so it was a nice walk.

The bummer of the whole day was that I forgot my camera when we went to the park, so I didn't get any pictures of the beauty, but luckily it's only just down the road so we'll go back again.

It was a great anniversary with not only my fabulous hubby, but also my wonderful children!

New Calling

So I've been called to be the Primary Chorister in my ward. It's kinda an intimidating calling, but so far I've enjoyed it. The kids are active, so keeping their attention has been a little trying, but I've noticed that if I have a game for them to play while we sing, it helps to keep them focused. Talk about a patience tester. :)

Playing Catch-up

Okay, So it looks like I need to play some catch up and get our blog updated. I'm a little behind the times.

So, we'll got back to Ian's birthday. I made a special car cake for him, and well, it didn't turn out to bad.



We invited about 20 of his little friends, and because his birthday is on Easter weekend, we only had one of his friends show up & two of mine. It was fun though!

We recently met some really great friends in our ward who moved here from Idaho in January; Marcy, Troy, and their 3 year old Kate. They are awesome! We've had a lot of fun getting to know them and learning how to play Pinochle. They are a really great family and have a been a great help this last little while. We happened to spend Easter Sunday with them and just had a blast. It was a beautiful day and we took a great walk around some of the trails around their home.

So we moved, again! Our new address is: 379 Phillips Dr. SE, Marietta, GA 30060. Our new number is: 770-693-0291. It was crazy, but with the help of friends, we made it work.

When we moved into our new place there was a swarm of Carpenter Bees hovering and taking over the side door area and the front porch where the steps to leave the house are. They are fairly large bees, about the size of quarter around their bellies and just creepy looking. I was so terrified of them, and to make it worse, they were getting into our room from the attic. We did some research and found out that they burrow into wood, and the males don't have stingers, not that it makes them any less intimidating. Brian has taken to using his racquet to hit them away from the house, and it most the time kills them. They are really nasty bees. Well, Ian saw Brian hitting the bees, so he thought it would be fun too. So now every time we go and sit on the porch, he grabs the racquet to defend us. It's cute.

Well, because I was so scared of these bees cause they would hover on the stairs of the porch and wouldn't move if you walked near them, I had Brian do something about them. A guy in our ward use to be an exterminator, so he gave us some heavy duty chemical, and now they are all gone. Thank goodness.

The gift we bought for Ian's birthday, the little coaster car, I'd have to say it was a good pick. Ian loves that thing and will ride around the house on it for hours, but then again, so will Brian.

Kenya is growing so fast, I can't believe she's already 6 months. Crazy life.
